The Youth in Uganda have varying aspirations shaped by their education, skills, life experiences and networks. Youth in Uganda comprise the largest percentage of the population, as 77% are under 25 years of age. The lives of millions of Ugandan youth are marred by poverty, inadequate education/skills, inadequate work/employment opportunities, exploitation, disease, civil unrest and gender discrimination. The environment they live in offers both new possibilities and new risks, which undermine the traditional social support that helps youth prepare for, negotiate and explore opportunities and demands of their passage into adulthood.
