YOUTH DEVELOPMENT

The Youth in Uganda have varying aspirations shaped by their education, skills, life experiences and networks. Youth in Uganda comprise the largest percentage of the population, as 77% are under 25 years of age. The lives of millions of Ugandan youth are marred by poverty, inadequate education/skills, inadequate work/employment opportunities, exploitation, disease, civil unrest and gender discrimination. The environment they live in offers both new possibilities and new risks, which undermine the traditional social support that helps youth prepare for, negotiate and explore opportunities and demands of their passage into adulthood.

Reason to participate in Youth development projects

Participating in Youth Development affords you the opportunity to support Ugandan youth in reaching their maximum potential by providing learning tools which meet Ugandan Education Standards. Through capacity-building, you will provide youth with mentorship and entrepreneurial development skills thereby enabling them to start income-generating projects to augment their standard of living. You will also gain hands-on experience working with Ugandan communities and gain an understanding of the magnitude of challenges youth experience while progressing in their lives within the Ugandan context.
